reassuring moments

Do you ever have those moments when things just seem to come together?

I do! Despite the many other things that happen on a daily basis there a moments that reassure me of my actions each and every day!

I love learning a new word or fact and then using it to showcase my intelligence during an episode of Jeopardy that same night. Sitting in a British Literature course jabbering on about the classics can be totally justified when Alex Trebek says "This famous author wrote Heart of Darkness among other things." and then earning the bragging rights when I am the first to say Conrad!

I love when I just happen to be reading a book in which the story occurs on the exact dates that I am reading it. Actually, today, I decided that it was such a lovely day outside that I should hunt down two Oprah Book Club books that I have and finally begin reading them. I was sitting out in an Adirondak chair when I came to "...this first day of June"." LOVE IT!

(yum! supper)

So lately, I have had this feeling that I should start a "supper club." I was watching an episode of one of Rachael Ray's shows and she featured a restaurant-style supper club that consisted of dinner and (after moving some tables around) dancing. It looked okay...but I thought the idea of a supper club was fabulous. A few days later I was watching a show on HGTV about outdoor kitchens and one couple used their kitchen for their monthly supper club...how fun! Immediately following the outdoor kitchen show I switched it over to Paula Deen and she was preparing a multitude of dishes that she intended to bring....to a supper club.

I need to start planning a supper club!

a bit about me!

I should probably begin by lending some information about myself.

I am nearly 30 and can honestly say that I have no idea what I want to do when I "grow up" except that I want to do EVERYTHING!

(alma mater)

I graduated from Western Michigan University with a B.A. in English and from there taught high school English to students with learning disabilities at an international boarding school in Florida.

I have always lived in Michigan (except for the two year stint in Florida) and I love it because that is where my family is, weather and outdoor activities vary by season and I love getting an entirely new wardrobe every three months!

Being able to drive by the water on the way to the grocery store, work, park, bar....is absolutely fabulous and is something I try not to take for granted.

(my love)

While I lived in Florida I met a most-wonderful man "Mike" and he loves Michigan too! (thank goodness!) We have purchased our first home nearly next to the house I grew up in and we have spent many hours making it *perfect!*

We have two dogs "Sophie" and "Roxie" who are quite adorable (in my opinion!)

(the biz)

Since coming back to Michigan I have been taking classes at Grand Valley and am currently searching for the perfect job. In the meantime I have been keeping busy with an online travel agency Travelbark and a baking business Oh My Cake! (which is basically fueled by word-of-mouth)

Besides my businesses keeping me busy I am also planning a wedding...which is tons of fun!

The purpose of this blog is to help me keep my priorites straight and my accomplishments precisely documented!

oops!

I forgot the obligatory photo...

Since I mentioned my fiance in the last post, here is a picture of my engagement ring. I do not know a ton about diamonds, but I do know that it is Asscher cut and I LOVE it!

"We" are planning a September 5, 2009 wedding and (if you continue to read my blog) you will hear all about it!

friday's "goal-in-life"

Today was an extremely gloomy day in West Michigan! One of those days where every time you wake up in the morning you want to roll over and slip back into slumber.

I spent a bunch of time doing absolutely nothing today.
a) laundry
b) baked cookies
c) searched for a job
d) watched some home improvement/cooking shows
e) chatted with my adorable pups

and after hours of being far less than productive I decided that before I go to bed there are two things I must accomplish.

First, I wanted to start an adorable blog. This is my first entry in my preliminary attempt. Unfortunately my IT Manager fiance (the one with the majority of the computer skills in our house) is out of town on a business trip. So hopefully my blog will be much cuter in the future! Starting a blog requires me to create a few solid posts, link/comment other blogs and apparently sign up for "twitter." Oh yeah and each entry must include a picture of some sort!

I also want to start a supper club! (Task number 2 on this evenings agenda!)

More about that in a future post. (don't worry, that will be tonight too!)
